Episode 1: Kevin Searcy

Updated: Nov 1, 2022

Kevin Searcy’s mission is simple, “To inspire myself and others to live a life that honors God

and advances his kingdom in everything.” A miracle baby, born in College Park, Georgia, Kevin’s grandmother always told him that ‘God had a special plan for his life’ as he was conceived with his mother’s tubes tied. Growing up in sports, like many other young men, Kevin’s dream was to enter the NFL and play professional football. As Kevin grew in his skill-set, with the support of his family, Kevin became the starting quarterback at his high school and broke many records. “I hated losing! I believed our team could do anything we put our minds to. I didn’t grow up in church, so this concept multiplied once I got a kingdom perspective”

“I hated losing! I believed our team could do anything we put our minds to. I didn’t grow up in church, so this concept multiplied once I got a kingdom perspective” Kevin came to know Christ in 2001, the summer after his freshman year at Middle Tennessee State University after being continuously invited to attend bible studies by one of the star wide receivers at that time. Kevin laughing says, “I remember walking up to him [Hansford] and introducing myself as his next starting quarterback.” That summer proved to be a life altering year.

In June, Kevin went to the campus doctor for a minor checkup which led to him being diagnosed with a life threatening condition. Shortly after, life would take another hard turn, “I received a call in July of 2011 saying that my brother had been shot and was in the ICU.” One month later, Kevin lost his only brother Cory. “For me, finding out about HIV was a major crossroads towards making the decision to live for Christ, through that summer, my eyes were opened that God has a better plan for me. My new found commitment with God strengthened me to be able to handle my brother’s death and go through it with a sort of strength and confidence”

Today, Kevin can honestly say that all things work together for the good of those who love God. After receiving his bachelors at Middle Tennessee State, Kevin moved to California and attended Campus Ministry School to train for Campus missions.

Now, back in Atlanta, GA, Kevin is married and the proud father of three. Two boys, Micah Cory, and Kevin Christian and his daughter, Tessa Naomi. Kevin teaches 8th grade Math and continues to share and serve in his local church.
